Filipino parties are known for serving trays of cascaron—deep-fried mochi donut balls that are sweet and crisp on the outside with a caramel glaze and dense and chewy on the inside. Valerio's serves them four-stacked on a stick, and they're one of the few places outside of homemade versions where you can find this treat. Located inside Seafood City in Waipahu, the bakeshop represents Hawaii's deep Filipino culinary connection with an array of traditional pastries that taste like home.
