West End Bakery has been a cornerstone of the Mishawaka/South Bend community since 1928, making it one of the oldest continuously operating bakeries in northern Indiana. Originally started by the Fobe family, the bakery was purchased by new owners Matt Mammolenti and Dan Olson in 2025, who pledged to continue the cherished recipes and traditions. Their paczki (Polish donuts) are legendary, reflecting the strong Polish heritage of the South Bend area. The donuts, cakes, and pastries are made from scratch using recipes passed down through nearly a century of baking.
