While permanently closed since June 2023 following the loss of their second location and fire damage to the original, Rebel Donut deserves mention as a legendary part of Albuquerque's donut history. Founded by architect-turned-baker Carrie Mettling in 2012, Rebel created the iconic Blue Sky donut—a vanilla cake doughnut dipped in azure glaze and studded with rock candy resembling Breaking Bad's blue meth. Their wild designs and irreverent attitude captured ABQ's creative spirit. The 'Chola-gram' Valentine's delivery concept went viral. A piece of Albuquerque culinary history.
