Voodoo Doughnut is Portland's most iconic doughnut shop — a counter-culture institution since 2003 that helped put Portland on the national food map. Anthony Bourdain called them 'nonconformist doughnuts,' and their Bacon Maple Bar was voted America's Greatest Doughnut three years running, cementing their status as a must-visit destination. With over 40 flavors including the jelly-filled Voodoo Doll (complete with a pretzel stake), the peanut butter and chocolate Memphis Mafia, and an array of cereal-topped creations, there's nothing conventional about this place. Open until 3am on weekends, the Old Town location is cash-only and almost always has a line — but that's part of the experience. Love it or call it overrated, you can't deny Voodoo's impact on American doughnut culture.
